Walgreens is clamping down

Unread post by MainManBlade »

Alert to all fanmail.biz collectors who have been relying on Walgreens to reprint their photos for them.
I went to Walgreens today and I was informed that they are enforcing the copyright protection laws. If you reprint a photo of a celebrity, they will not sell it to you without a consent form that says the photo is yours and you can prove it.
Ways around it?
Provide a fake memo or e-mail stating that the photo is yours signed by someone else (or forged).
Show them the presskit where you got the picture from and sign the stupid form
What the hell? It feels like 2001 and Wal-Mart all over again {down}

I usually just order mine through one of the online services. It takes more time, but it's less hassle that way.

Is this a new chainwide thing or just your location? From what others have said about Walgreens, it seems to vary store by store whether they're willing to turn a blind eye.

Ditto. It usually ends up being cheaper than my local stores anyways, due to the sales, credits and cashback.

I'll try another location and see what happens. There are about 6 of them in my town alone

The last time I tried to get photos through Walgreens, they did the same thing to me. Wouldn't release the photos unless I signed something, but they couldn't find the form so they wouldn't release them at all. I ended up having to order them online.

On the other hand, a couple of days ago I ordered 4 prints through Snapfish, and they just came to my door. Beautiful photos; one is a little pixilated but I'm probably still going to send it.

I used to order from Snapfish all the time. But I started to have a lot of orders that got canceled do to copy right laws. So now I just print my own pictures on my printer..

Really? I haven't had any problems with Snapfish yet.

I've always assumed they were one of the automated photo printing services for some reason, but looks like I was wrong.

I print mine off the machine in the "CLICK" booth. (Not sure if you have them in the USA??) I edit the photo's on my own computer, bluetooth them to my phone, then go in and bluetooth them to the machine and click print! The photo's are only on the screen for a split second and I've never been caught out!! ;-) :lol:

Just another reason to invest in a good photo printer and do your own.
