You never know when
twitter will be useful. I use it for
my website and I follow a lot of movie related twitter accounts. A lot of films have official twitter accounts, like District 9 (
@D9Movie). They always (ALWAYS) give things away before and after the film is released, which is one of the main reasons I love twitter. But normally it's only a t-shirt.
Surprisingly, the District 9 twitter account announced:
First 10 users w/US address 2 @ reply us a TwitPic of U w/D9 movie ticket purchased prior to 8/18 will get Peter Jackson signed concept art
Little chance of winning, but I quickly found my ticket (which I kept, since it was a great film) and took a picture. Twitpic (like Photobucket and Imageshack, but for twitter) wasn't loading. I was so annoyed, but it finally uploaded. I waited.
Nothing. And by my count, I was the 13th to respond.
I assumed I lost and moved on with my life. But earlier today I received a Direct Message (like a PM) from @D9Movie saying I had won! WOO! He was one of the people I was hoping to get, but he doesn't sign TTM. Wow, what a day.
And to my understanding, the concept art is of the District 9 ship. Pretty cool.
