I have a question about sending letters from the UK to Austr

I have been collecting autographs since 2006 and i would like to write to the cast of Home and Away, as i like that Australain soap, and i live in the UK and i have never wrote to anyone out of this country before. and i would like to write to Todd Lasance who plays Aden Jeffries in the show. my friend told me that you only need a engish first class stamp and the go to the post office and ask for an airmail stamp for australia. im writing to todd to request an autograph though, so is that all id need. because what sort of stamp would he use to send the autograph back, i have emailed Todd on his myspace account, but he has'nt got back to me yet.
