Waiting,Waiting,Waiting....

I sent about 20-30 letters out to various celebs in November 2004 and STILL haven't had any replies (not even the letters back telling me that the address doesn't exist!!!)

I have sent to both USA and in the UK.

Is this waiting time (5 months) common or not???

What is the longest that you have waited for a reply?

The longest for me was 7 months and it was for Orlando Bloom. Maybe some of the people you are sending too, dont reply. Did you send a Sase?? A lot of the time it is needed, so that could be a problem too. Just keep waiting, and maybe send some more. The letters could have also gotten lost in the mail.

I have included Self-addressed envelopes in all of the letters that I sent!

I suppose I'll just have to cross my fingers and wait!!!

I have been trying to figure out the same thing!
Ive sent out like 200 over 4 months, I Wait... nothing returned, nothing signed...

I sent out a bunch in early January (50 or so) and have many that I have not yet had a response from.

All of the successes I recieved were very quick replies...

All of the RTS came back within a week.

I hear that it's not uncommon for a reply to take 6-9 months (and sometimes years), so I'll just be patient.

In the mean time I have a one in, one out policy---so, when I recieve a success (or RTS) I send out the next request. This way I always have a reasonable number out in the mail and can recycle some materials (i.e. cardboard to stiffen the picture envelope). If I've seen that someone had a recent success (i.e. reported on the feedback forum) I'll put those addresses next on my list!

I have that same process, but I only use blank cards with 37 cent postage.

I'm collecting photo's to display in my home theater (when i finish building it), so the postcard thing won't work for me... The photos definitely cost more to mail ($2+ per mailing), but at least I get what I want that way!!! (Although when I don't get replies it just hurts that much more becase of all of the extra postage!!!)

I just got a photo printer so I am going to sen out photos.
What is the best way to do that so the photo wont get bent either way?

Here's what I do:

1 Do not print your photo's on 'glossy' paper. Matte photo paper works good. I've found that the celebrities sometimes use a non-permanent silver marker to sign... I've had a couple of pics where the autograph literally fell off.

2 To mail the photos I use a 9x12 SASE envelope with a cardboard insert---I only send out 8x10 sized photos printed on 8.5x11 paper---8 x 10 is a standard frame size. You can buy cheap cardbaord boxes for about $.99 at Office Depot and cut 4 or 5 inserts out of each box. Make sure you get a single ply cardboard---double ply cardboard and stiff chip board weigh a lot more and will cost more to ship both ways. I put the photos in the 9x12 SASE envelope with a post-it on the outside that says 'photo enclosed'. I than put the SASE and letter in a 10x13 envelope to mail it to the celeb. I write 'DO NOT BEND' on both the SASE and outer envelope.

3 Postage varies depending on the number of photo's and the weight of the board I use to stiffen the envelope. Generally the SASE is either $.83 or $1.06. The outer envelope is generally $.83, $1.06, or $1.29 depending on exact weight. I use a digital kitchen scale to weigh the envelopes in ounces. I know the shipping rates by memory for now, but you can use http://www.USPS.gov to calculate first-class postage. If you go to the post office and buy a sheet of $.83 and $.23 stamps you'll be well set for any postage costs you'll encounter!
