Thank you to the majority of people who've kindly commented on this post.
I've now heard back from my penpal Megumi and she's as good as can be at a time like this, her area was not badly affected by it (yet), but she'll keep me up-to-date.
Still waiting to hear from the lovely girl I met here on Fanmail though, fingers crossed I get word back soon.
Huge thanks again to everyone and their well-wishes, it does mean a lot

Re: Japan
Hi Lorri, I'm glad you have heard from Megumi and that she is safe (beautiful name, by the way - I named a character in one of my stories Megumi once!). I hope you hear from your other friend soon. *hugs*
Oh, and try not to worry about comments like the one above: if someone who can say something like that believes in a concept such as karma then they will surely get theirs.

Good luck to the people in Japan getting through this. The carnage that is going on in their country now is just unimaginable.
Glad to hear that your friend is OK.

I love Megumi's name too, pretty name for a pretty girl
You write stories? I'm useless at writing, just not a strong point of mine at all!
I wasn't even going to reply to the nasty comment, I was just so angry after reading it - but you're right!
Thanks again

It'll take such a long time for them to recover, really is a terrible thing.

Re: Japan
Finally, I have heard from everyone that I contacted, their all safe
I'm so happy to have heard from them, still devastated that this event has taken place, but at least my heart feels a little better now.
Thanks everyone for your support

Aw, I'm so pleased for you! I understand how worrying it must have been - I felt like that when the London bombings happened (my brother and his wife work there).

I'm sorry you had to go through that kinda thing too, my head was just up my back-side since I heard about it, and it must have been worse for you
